This decision underscores the institution’s dedication to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring a safe environment for both staff and students
University sacks three staff – As a result of egregious misconduct, which includes tampering, sexual harassment, and absconding from duty, the Governing Council of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has terminated the employment of three of the aforementioned staff members.
Ismail Yauri, who serves as the Director of Information and Public Relations for the institution, issued an official press release that revealed the decision, which was adopted during the 171st regular meeting of the university, which took place on March 12, 2025.
This disciplinary action is in accordance with the “zero tolerance” policy that UDUS has in place for unethical behaviour, as stated in the statement.
“This decision underscores the institution’s dedication to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring a safe environment for both staff and students.”
There has been a persistent emphasis placed on ethical standards among both the faculty and the students at UDUS, which is considered to be one of the most prestigious universities in northern Nigeria.
The most recent dismissals serve as a warning against violating the institution’s code of conduct. At the time of this report, there were no fruitful attempts made to acquire additional remarks from university officials concerning the identity of the affected staff members and the possibility of legal measures being taken.
In response, students have expressed a range of opinions: some students have praised the university for its unwavering stance on disciplinary measures, while others have demanded greater transparency in the way that such matters are handled.
