Sylvester drowned while swimming with friends after returning from running errands for his mother.
Two boys drown in rivers – In the communities of Owhelogbo and Ugbolokposo, which are located in the Isoko North and Isoko South Local Government Areas of Delta State, two young boys, aged 16 and 12, have found themselves drowning in different rivers.
On Wednesday evening, the 16-year-old drowned, while the 12-year-old drowned on the previous Saturday.
At the time of publication, the details surrounding the event involving the 12-year-old were hazy.
However, the 16-year-old boy, who has been identified as Sylvester, is said to have drowned after going for swimming with a group of friends when he was on his way back from running errands for his mother.
When Sylvester entered the river, it appeared as if he was being pulled by something, as stated by the companion who raised the alarm.
When they realized they were unable to save him, he had no choice but to seek assistance from the community.
Regrettably, all of the attempts to save Sylvester were fruitless until almost nine o’clock, when the body became visible on the water.
It was not the first time that they had all gone swimming at the river, the friend revealed, assuring Sylvester that he was capable of swimming.
