Super Eagles star striker Victor Osimhen has declared that the team is fired up to make up for previous disappointments and qualify for the 2026 World Cup. The Super Eagles will face Rwanda in Kigali next week, followed by a home game against Zimbabwe in Uyo four days later.

Osimhen made a rallying call to action on behalf of the Super Eagles, stating, “There’s a new manager now, and we are desperately looking forward to the game against Rwanda to try to correct all the previous mistakes we’ve made and put ourselves in a better position to qualify.”

The Super Eagles have been working hard to redeem themselves after missing out on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Osimhen expressed his sadness and disappointment at the team’s failure to qualify, saying, “I was sad, like my teammates, to miss out on Qatar, and our fans didn’t even understand how much it affected us.”

Osimhen emphasized the importance of correcting past mistakes and giving everything to the country, the new coach, and proving themselves worthy. He hopes to personally feature in his first World Cup, stating, “It’s a dream of every footballer to play at the World Cup, and with our situation in the group, I am desperate, like other players, to make it to the 2026 tournament.”
