Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has addressed speculation surrounding his future at the club, stating that he is focused on the present and not thinking about the summer. Isak’s comments come amidst reported interest from top European clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal.

The Swedish striker has been in exceptional form this season, scoring 22 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions. His impressive performances have understandably caught the eye of several top clubs, with Liverpool and Arsenal reportedly considering a big-money summer move for the 25-year-old.

However, Isak remains committed to Newcastle United, at least for the time being. Speaking at a press conference on Friday, he said, “This club can achieve great things. I think we should really look at it one season at a time, and this season, we can achieve winning a trophy, which would be amazing for everyone.”

When asked about his future, Isak added, “About my future, it’s nothing really I think about. I’ve said many times during a season – just focus on the job – and now is probably the worst time to think about anything else, so all of our focus is just on Sunday and doing good and hopefully bringing the trophy back to Newcastle.”

Isak also addressed the possibility of extending his contract at Newcastle United, which still has more than three years left to run. He stated, “I’ve said I’m not really thinking about the summer, but yes, that’ll probably be a talking point once the season is finished. We will really see because no talks have been held yet.”

Newcastle United CEO Darren Eales has previously stated that it would be “crazy” for the club to consider selling Isak, and it appears that the Magpies are committed to keeping their star striker.

Isak’s fitness has been a concern in recent weeks, with the striker missing Newcastle’s 2-0 Premier League defeat at Liverpool and leaving the pitch early in the Magpies’ FA Cup loss to Brighton. However, Isak has reassured fans that he is fit and raring to go for Sunday’s EFL Cup final against Liverpool.
