We are essentially one people tied to a common destiny. What unites us supersedes whatever it is that divides us.

President Bola Tinubu officially hosted Iftar, the breaking of the fast-during Ramadan, on Wednesday for the leadership of the Senate. Senator Kashim Shettima, the Vice President, has made an appeal for unity and collaboration among leaders to maintain the gains that have been made as a result of the reforms implemented by the administration of President Tinubu.

An inflection point has been achieved in the nation, according to the Vice President, when the strong and fearless leadership of Mr President, as well as well-thought-out policies and the proper execution of those policies, have conspired to meet at a confluence.

While it is time for Nigerians to reap the fruits of President Tinubu’s daring decisions in crucial sectors, Senator Shettima, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, highlighted that the participation of political leaders is essential to maintain the momentum. The statement he issued made this clear.

He noted that food and gas prices have fallen, and the foreign exchange market is stable, citing the president’s “bold vision and courageous decisions.”

“The economy is projected to grow at 4.3 to 4.6 percent this year and in the fullness of time, posterity will be kind to you, Mr President.

“We are members of the same family but sleeping in different rooms. We are essentially one people tied to a common destiny. What unites us supersedes whatever it is that divides us.

“We are one big family irrespective of political affiliations, religious persuasions, tribe or sectional background. We will continue to nurture this relationship and take it to greater heights.”

A previous statement made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on behalf of the Senate’s members expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the support that was provided to the 10th Senate. The president provided this support by approving the legislation that the chamber enacted.

For the sake of Nigeria’s progress, the President of the Senate prayed for divine wisdom and optimal health for the President of the Senate and the Vice President of the Senate so that they could continue their constructive work.

In the same breath that he guaranteed a better and more improved representation of the people in the coming months and years, Akpabio stated that the Senate is unified across party lines to offer the necessary momentum for the actualization of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
