Bayer Leverkusen forward, Nathan Tella, has withdrawn from Nigeria’s Super Eagles squad ahead of their upcoming matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe later this month.
The 25-year-old was included in the final 23-man roster announced on Tuesday for the Super Eagles’ critical 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures but an injury has ruled him out of contention for the international break.
Tella’s absence follows Bayer Leverkusen’s 0-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday, a match in which he remained an unused substitute. His injury was confirmed shortly after, forcing him to step back from national team duties.
In a swift response, Super Eagles head coach Éric Chellé acted swiftly to fill the void. The Franco-Malian manager has called up Gent defender Jordan Torunarigha as a replacement for the sidelined forward.
