Inter Milan secured a comfortable 2-1 win over Feyenoord on Tuesday, advancing to the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 4-1 aggregate victory. The Italian champions will face a blockbuster clash with Bayern Munich in the next round.

A thumping early strike from Marcus Thuram and Hakan Calhanoglu’s penalty gave Inter a commanding lead, despite Feyenoord’s brief resurgence after Jakub Moder’s penalty goal just before halftime.

“We knew it would be a tough game, but we were focused and played well,” Inter coach Simone Inzaghi said after the match. “We created many chances and deserved the win.”

Thuram’s opener in the eighth minute set the tone for the match. The France forward received a pass from Carlos Augusto on the left flank, charged towards goal, and unleashed a ferocious shot that left Feyenoord goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther helpless.

“We started well, and Marcus Thuram’s goal gave us confidence,” Inzaghi added. “We controlled the game and created many chances.”

Feyenoord’s task was made more difficult due to the absence of 11 players through injury or suspension. Despite this, the Dutch side showed willingness to attack, but Inter’s defense held firm.

Calhanoglu’s penalty goal in the 50th minute sealed the win for Inter, after Mehdi Taremi was fouled by Thomas Beelen. The Turkish midfielder confidently stroked the ball home, giving Inter a 2-0 lead on the night.

“We’re happy to be in the quarter-finals, but we know it will be a tough match against Bayern Munich,” Inzaghi said. “We’ll prepare well and give our best.”

The quarter-final clash between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams boasting rich Champions League history.
