A visit was made by Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State, to Rauf Aregbesola, a former minister of the interior, and Pastor Tunde Bakare, a well-known clergyman, in Lagos.

One of El-Rufai‘s media advisers, Muyiwa Adekeye, tweeted about the visit on Sunday. Adekeye disclosed the visit.

“Malam Nasir @elrufai was in Lagos today to visit Ogbeni @raufaregbesola and Pastor Tunde Bakare.”

Despite the fact that El-Rufai’s conversation with the two lawmakers was not made public, it is widely assumed that the visits were a part of his ongoing political manoeuvring in preparation for the general elections in 2027.

Recently, El-Rufai has expressed a great deal of disapproval towards the All Progressives Congress, which is currently in power, as well as President Bola Tinubu. Tinubu and the APC have recently come under El-Rufai’s harsh criticism.

IREPORT247NEW recall that President Bola Tinubu’s special adviser on public relations and the media, Sunday Dare, has called the president’s political rivals “wannabes.”

According to Dare, the president is unfazed by the opposition’s ceaseless criticism.

This comes days after former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi publicly attacked Tinubu’s government.

El-Rufai, who recently said that he no longer recognises the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accused the party of establishing ideals.

“You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders. This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today,” he said.

The former governor, who is still a party member, stated in a different tweet that he would still be critical of the APC even if he were in Tinubu’s administration.

Dare responded to their remarks by telling the president’s detractors to hold off on criticising him until the 2027 elections to gauge his support.

“While President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria was away in far away Dar es Salaam, capital of Tanzania, his political opponents, detractors, opposition elements, pseudo friends unfolded their Machiavellian inclinations,” he stated in a post on X.

Indeed, while the President was seeking solutions to Nigerias’ energy problems in Dar es Salaam, some wannabes were heating up the polity.

“Expectedly, it was a gathering convened to further spread ill will. Nothing new came out of the gathering different from the opposition script we are used to. A few of the participants went overboard in their vitriol, fanning the embers for adopting undemocratic actions.

“These political gladiators have antecedents that are well known. We urge Nigerians to begin their scrutiny early. And choose between political hecklers and real progressives. The clouds are beginning to clear. The stage sets soon. The combat begins.

“Until then, President Tinubu, an avowed democrat remains undistracted and unperturbed. The fight is ahead. Not now. The only conversation he wants to have now is how to improve the lives of Nigerian citizens and constructive discourse on building a resilient economy”

Bakare on the other hand, has been vocal in his criticism of the current administration. After losing the APC presidential ticket to Bola Tinubu in the run-up to the 2023 election.

Tinubu’s old ally, Aregbesola, recently left the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with his supporters in the state of Osun.

Recently, the former minister of the Federal Capital Territory made headlines when he agreed to give an interview to Arise Television.

In the interview, he made the accusation that Tinubu had purposefully removed him from his list of ministerial nominations.

In addition to this, he criticised Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, for allegedly weakening the North in regard to his apparent goal to become president in 2031.

The visit of the former governor of Kaduna to Lagos has sparked new discussions about his political future and the potential strategic alliances he may create in the run-up to the elections in 2027.
