Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has made a bold prediction about the 2027 presidential election. According to Keyamo, President Bola Tinubu is already a shoo-in for a second term. Keyamo made this declaration at a welcome reception for Great Ogboru, a politician who recently rejoined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after a stint with the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Keyamo also took aim at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which currently holds power in Delta State. He confidently declared that the PDP “will fall” in the next election, citing the APC’s renewed unity and strength in the state. Keyamo attributed the APC’s previous losses in Delta State to infighting and stakeholder defections, but expressed optimism about the party’s prospects now that Ogboru has returned to the fold.
Ogboru, a former governorship candidate, was hailed by Keyamo as “a great leader with massive grassroots support” who has demonstrated “organic leadership” by maintaining a strong political base despite lacking federal power.² Ogboru himself expressed delight at rejoining the APC, saying that the party will “take over Delta to change the life of the people for better.”
Keyamo’s predictions and declarations have significant implications for Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly in Delta State. As the 2027 elections approach, it remains to be seen whether Keyamo’s predictions will hold true.
