Johnny Fisher, the British Boxer 13-0, 11 KOs and Dave Allen 32-7-2, 18 KOs will lock horns once again in a huge heavyweight rematch at London’s Copper Box Arena on Saturday May 17.
Their controversial first fight, on the undercard of Usky Fury 2 in Saudi Arabia last December, saw Essex fighter Fisher’s hand raised despite being dropped in the fifth round by the underdog, Allen.
The contentious split-decision victory awarded to Fisher was scored 95-94 twice for the “Romford Bull”, with the third judge at ringside giving it to the “White Rhino” Allen at 96-93.
The 26-year-old Fisher was down in the fifth round, then staggered consistently by the rugged Allen over the 10-rounds.
Fisher is due credit for his bold decision to rematch with Allen, even though he got the win and could move on, but the young prospect recognised the need to run it back.
He now returns to the scene of his sensational one-round destruction of Croatia’s Alen Babic last summer, looking to put this chapter of his career to bed, while Allen is convinced he will be able to take the decision out of the judges’ hands in the rematch by knocking Fisher out this time.
“I’m looking forward to headlining my second sold-out event at the Copper BOSH Arena on May 17,” said Fisher. “I’m excited to put on another great fight for the fans and win in even better fashion this time around.”
