Detectives from Abigi Division swiftly visited the crime scene and recovered potential exhibit
A man who has only been identified as Oju has been taken into custody by the authorities in the state of Ogun.
He is accused of stabbing his wife, Josephine Isaac, to death following a violent dispute that took place at their home in the Agbure community, which is located in the Ogun Waterside council area.
In a statement released on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Chief Superintendent of Police Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident.
As stated by Odutola, the situation was reported to the Abigi Divisional Police Headquarters at approximately 9:30 in the morning by Blessing Isaac, who was the younger sister of the individual who had passed away.
At approximately one in the morning, Blessing related that her sister Josephine, who was married to Oju from Cross River State, was involved in a violent argument with her marriage partner.
Over the course of the disagreement, which evolved into physical violence, Oju is accused of stabbing Josephine many times in the chest and neck with a knife.
The statement reads, “Upon realising the severity of her injuries and seeing her bleeding profusely, the suspect fled the scene, abandoning her.
“The victim was rushed to Ibiade General Hospital, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries, as confirmed by medical personnel.
“Upon receiving the report, detectives from Abigi Division swiftly visited the crime scene and recovered potential exhibits.”
Odutola mentioned that the deceased, who was 36 years old, had been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy to be performed.
The investigations that are currently being conducted to guarantee that the criminal is brought to justice are currently underway.
In addition to advising citizens to report any suspected instances of domestic abuse to the nearest police station, Odutola urged them to always look for peaceful conflict resolution alternatives rather than resorting to violence.
