Ladigbolu: Majority of Oyo Residents Welcome Owoade as New Alaafin

The Chairman of the Oyo Metropolitan Development Association, Archbishop Emeritus Ayo Ladigbolu, has declared that most residents of Oyo town are pleased with the emergence of Akeem Owoade as the next Alaafin of Oyo.

This development comes as Owoade prepares for his coronation as the 45th Alaafin of Oyo, scheduled for April 5.

Ladigbolu, an octogenarian Oyo prince, stated that the people of Oyo town accepted Owoade as king because they yearn for “leadership, peace, progress, and prosperity.” He added that time will heal the wounds or grievances of those opposed to Owoade’s emergence. “The majority of our people are pleased to have a king. Oyo needs leadership, peace, progress, and prosperity. All hands are on deck in support of a very successful coronation ceremony,” Ladigbolu said.

Owoade’s emergence as the next Alaafin of Oyo has been a subject of controversy, with some contestants challenging his appointment in court. However, Ladigbolu’s statement suggests that most residents of Oyo town are in support of Owoade’s emergence.

Preparations for Owoade’s coronation are ongoing, with the state government and the Oyo Metropolitan Development Association working together to ensure a successful ceremony. The coronation is expected to attract dignitaries from across the country and beyond.

Owoade returned to Nigeria on Wednesday after spending about seven weeks in his Canada base. His return came exactly a month before his official coronation as the 45th Alaafin of Oyo.
