Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has emphasized the need for the South East Development Commission (SEDC) to prioritize its projects and focus on one key area at a time.
He made this call when he received the newly appointed members of SEDC, led by CEO Dr. Emeka Nworgu, at the governor’s lodge in Awka.
Soludo stressed that the SEDC should adopt a one-point agenda, such as developing a rail network to connect all state capitals in the South East. He argued that this focused approach would enable the commission to deliver tangible results and make a significant impact.
A rail network connecting the state capitals in the South East would have numerous benefits for the region. It would improve transportation links, facilitate trade and commerce, and enhance economic growth. Additionally, it would reduce the reliance on road transportation, which is often congested and prone to accidents.
Soludo also urged the SEDC to collaborate with South-East governors to achieve significant progress. This call for cooperation is in line with his previous efforts to promote regional development and economic growth. By working together, the SEDC and the governors can pool their resources and expertise to drive development in the region.
The SEDC was established to promote economic development in the South East region. Its mandate includes identifying and implementing projects that would drive growth and development in the region. By focusing on a rail network, the SEDC can make a significant contribution to the region’s development.
The development of a rail network in the South East region is not without its challenges. The region’s terrain can be difficult, and the cost of building a rail network can be high. However, the opportunities presented by a rail network far outweigh the challenges. With careful planning and execution, the SEDC can overcome the challenges and deliver a rail network that would transform the region.
Governor Soludo’s call for the SEDC to focus on a rail network is a timely and wise one. A rail network would have numerous benefits for the South East region, and the SEDC is well-placed to drive this project forward. By collaborating with South-East governors and other stakeholders, the SEDC can deliver a rail network that would transform the region and drive economic growth.
