Over eighty law enforcement personnel and other relevant law enforcement agencies have been trained by the government of Oyo State on the most effective legal framework and the psychology of law enforcement in accordance with the recently enacted laws by the administration led by Seyi Makinde.

A number of organisations, including the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, the Environmental and Sanitation Task Force, the Amotekun Corps, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Operational Security Outfits, were among those that took part in the training session that lasted for two days.

The training that was given with the title “Psychology of Law Enforcement: Strategies for Compliance under the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), Environmental Protection and Sanitation Law, and Open Grazing Prohibition Law” highlights the significance of understanding human behaviour in the process of enforcing laws and ensuring compliance with those laws.

Honourable Justice Aderonke Aderemi, Chairman of the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA), stated that the purpose of the engagement was to familiarise them with developing trends on the legal framework of three main agencies in the state.

The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, the Oyo Youth Road Traffic Management Authority, the Environmental Protection and Sanitation agencies, and the statute that prohibits open grazing and open rearing are the entities that make up the group.

In order to ensure that the public is willing to cooperate, she explained that security agencies have tasks that are absolutely necessary to ensure.

“This gathering is not just a training event but a step towards strengthening law enforcement strategies, improving compliance, and promoting a safer and more orderly society in Oyo State.

“The creation of the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) is a testament to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde’s dedication to public safety, environmental sustainability, and economic progress.

“To our enforcement officers and all participants, I commend you for your commitment to upholding the rule of law and for your dedication to serving Oyo State with integrity, professionalism, and excellence.”

As Hon. Justice Adekemi listed the accomplishments of the Agency, he dropped hints that those who break the state’s many laws—including those against open grazing and raising animals for human consumption, as well as traffic laws—will face not only fines but possibly jail time.

“The task of enforcing the laws of Oyo State is a collective responsibility. Each of us plays a vital role in ensuring that our roads are safe, our environment is protected, and public order is maintained.

“Through continuous training and adoption of modern enforcement techniques, we can build a system that fosters voluntary compliance, minimizes conflicts, and enhances public trust in law enforcement agencies.”

The training’s topic, according to Architect Abdulmojeed Olawale Mogbojubola, Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, stresses the importance of knowing how people act in order to enforce laws and make sure everyone follows them.

Olawale encouraged everyone to take responsibility for their actions and make a difference in the community via their unique rhythms.

The topics of legislative framework, enforcement, and compliance under OYRTMA were discussed with the participants by the facilitators of the course, Dr. Bamisaye Olutola and Macaulay Modupeore Ojukotimi, who is the Head of Specialisation course through LASTMA.

Those who took part in the workshop expressed their belief that it would have a significant impact on their mental state and their level of productivity, consequently enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of their obligations and enforcement.
