The Stay Alert Human Right Awareness Initiative (SAHRAI), a coalition of civil society organizations, has urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to remain focused on delivering impactful legislative interventions to Nigerians.

Amb. Lary Onah, SAHRAI’s Executive Director, expressed confidence in Akpabio’s leadership, describing it as “impactful and most gender tolerant.” Onah praised Akpabio for conducting himself professionally during a recent altercation with Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over seating arrangements.

“We praise the senate president for his professionalism in the manner he conducted himself in the plenary during the altercation by Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over seating arrangement,” Onah said.

Onah criticized Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions, stating that she was wrong to go against the rules of the senate. “She should apologize for her wrong conduct and withdraw her petition of sexual harassment against the most performing senate president of Nigeria,” he said.

Onah alleged that Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan’s accusation was designed to distract the senate and undermine Akpabio’s leadership. He urged Akpabio to ignore the “cheap blackmail” and focus on his duties.

SAHRAI is now mobilizing its members for a solidarity march in support of Akpabio and the country’s leadership.
