Abducted Benue University Students Freed, Police Reveal

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the release of three female students abducted from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

The students were kidnapped on February 25, 2025, while returning from a night study session on campus.


The abduction occurred when the students were returning from a night study session. The university management responded by ordering a one-week mid-semester break to address security challenges. An internal memo titled “Security Situation on Campus” was issued, highlighting the need for increased security measures.


The National Association of Nigerian Students and the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, called for intensified efforts to secure the release of the abducted students. Their efforts contributed to the successful release of the students.
