The House is aware that the Governor of Zamfara State has taken several proactive measures to safeguard the state

On Tuesday, the House of Representatives issued a request to the Federal Government, requesting that it create a military camp in areas in Zamfara State that are struggling with violent crime.

Hassan Shinkafi, the legislator who represents the Shinkafi/Zurmi Federal Constituency, presented a motion during Tuesday’s plenary session, and it was ultimately adopted.

This resolution was the result of that motion. During the presentation of the motion, the member from the People’s Democratic Party expressed his disapproval of the worsening security situation in the Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas.

He cited the rise in the number of people who have been attacked, killed, maimed, and kidnapped.

“The House is aware that the Governor of Zamfara State has taken several proactive measures to safeguard the state, including establishing a Security Trust Fund, deploying Community Protection Guards, enhancing intelligence-sharing, and providing logistical support to security agencies.

“The House also acknowledges that military personnel have made commendable efforts in addressing the security situation. However, the ongoing crisis has severely impacted the people of Shinkafi and Zurmi, restricting access to farmlands, markets, and schools.

Shinkafi has advocated for the building of a permanent military post that is well-equipped in Magarya, Kurya, Kware, Dutsi, Mashema, Gurbin Bore, Boko, and Dole, which are all located within the Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas.

This is in order to address the security risks that have been identified and to bring about a return to normalcy.

Following the passage of the motion, the House of Representatives presented a request to the Federal Government. Requesting that it instruct the military to construct a permanent security base in the areas that were impacted.

Additionally, it urged the Zamfara State Government to work together with security and law enforcement agencies in order to address the ongoing security situation.

On Saturday, March 1, 2025, the executives of the APC, who were from Kaura Namoda South, were kidnapped when they were transporting themselves to Talata Mafara district.
