According to Sani Danjuma, Public Relations Officer of the state Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the move is aimed at minimizing academic disruption while recognizing the challenges posed by Ramadan.
The government considered the extreme weather conditions in northern Nigeria and the unique difficulties faced by students and teachers during the fasting period. Danjuma assured that the directive ensures students, particularly those preparing for critical examinations, continue their academic preparations.
To mitigate the impact of the closure, the government has designed special extra lessons for Senior Secondary Certificate Examination candidates in public, private, and community schools.
