My husband is not the usual politician, as you know. His eyes are always on the ball. He will always tell you that he is on a mission that has a deadline.
It has been requested by Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the First Lady and wife of Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, that the state branch of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) make the accomplishments of her husband’s administration known to the general public.
During a courtesy visit that took place yesterday at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, Soludo’s wife made the appeal. The visit was led by Dr. Emeka Odogwu, who is the state executive of the NUJ.
In order for the people to have a better appreciation for the efforts that the administration was making, she invited the National Union of Journalists to join in informing the public about what the Soludo government was doing.
The National Union of Journalists was informed by Mrs. Soludo that she is not a politician as well. It would appear that she is not very skilled at mouthing off about her husband’s accomplishments.
She said, “My husband is not the usual politician, as you know. His eyes are always on the ball. He will always tell you that he is on a mission that has a deadline.
“He has never said this to me. But you are aware that he has constructed over 425 kilometres of roads in the past three years.”
“I am only focusing on my 6-pillar health agenda for the people of the state.
“Let me ask you, is the governor not working? If you say that he is working, please help his administration to let the public know about his achievements.”
In a statement, the chairman of the state NUJ praised Soludo’s wife for her unique program that has promoted healthy living among the people of the state, backyard farming, and different programs that have benefited the lives of women.
Dr. Odogwu explained to Soludo’s wife that the reason she was honored as “Most Supportive Governor’s Wife NUJ 2024” was because she had demonstrated that she was a critical voice for those who did not have a voice. This was the reason that the union favored her.
With the statement that the administration was heading in the right direction, the chairman of the NUJ made a commitment to provide the government with further support from the council.
