The Lagos State High Court has adjourned the trial of Andrew Nice Ominikoron, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) driver accused of killing 22-year-old fashion designer Oluwabamise Ayanwola, to March 6. This marks the fourth adjournment in the case, which has been ongoing since 2022.

The defence counsel, Abayomi Omotubora, requested the adjournment as he had not filed his final written address. He explained that he needed time to respond to an issue raised in the final address received from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Dr Babajide Martins. Omotubora apologized for the delay, assuring the court that he would file the address either on March 3 or, at the latest, March 4.

Justice Sherifat Sonaike granted the adjournment, allowing Omotubora to file his written address on points of law. The prosecution alleges that Ominikoron and others at large unlawfully killed Ayanwola on February 26, 2022, by throwing her out of a moving bus.

Additionally, Ominikoron is accused of raping a 29-year-old woman, Maryjane Odezulu, on November 25, 2021.
