The head of the FRSC urged motorists to avoid being fatigued while traveling long distances, asking them to pull over and rest whenever they feel tired in order to prevent accidents of a similar nature.

An accident that involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a truck resulted in the deaths of twelve passengers on the Benin-Auchi highway early on Saturday morning. The catastrophe caused by a fire resulted in the deaths of twelve passengers who were burned to death. The mishap took place at approximately five in the morning in the Igueoviobo hamlet, close to an army checkpoint on the highway, according to Cyril Mathew, the Edo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, who confirmed the occurrence.

On its way to Auchi, the bus, which had left Zuba in the Federal Capital Territory and was en route to Benin, was involved in a collision with a truck that was traveling in the opposite direction, as stated by the official from the Federal Road Safety Commission.

His statement was that after the hit, the bus was completely consumed by fire, making it impossible to save the people who were on board

Matthew said, “The entire occupants of the bus were killed in the crash. The accident likely resulted from fatigue, as the driver may have dozed off, leading to the collision.”

Matthew mentioned that the officials from the FRSC were able to identify the deceased by the vehicle’s manifest and that they had since informed their relatives concerning the matter. Both the truck driver and his aide, who was affectionately referred to as “Motor Boy,” were able to leave without any injuries.

Over and over again, the head of the FRSC urged motorists to avoid being fatigued while traveling long distances, asking them to pull over and rest whenever they feel tired in order to prevent accidents of a similar nature.
