The Eagles from Nottwil started the final as favorites. Spono is leading the women’s qualification in the championship, while Zug has yet to clinch a playoff spot. In the cup final, however, Zug played on an equal footing. They led by three goals twice in the first half (5:2 and 7:4).
The Spono Eagles took the lead for the first time in the 22nd minute (8:7). Zug then equalized eleven more times, but never took the lead again. Sev Albrecht scored the winning goal to make it 24:23 with 76 seconds remaining. Albrecht, like Leah Stutz (Zug), scored the most goals, namely eight.
Zug lost the cup final for the second time in a row. Spono Nottwil also lost three Cup finals from 2021 to 2023. The Nottwil team brought the Cup trophy to Lake Sempach for the fifth time.
