Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s husband is Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan. He is also the Alema of Warri Kingdom. He stated that she confided in him her dealings with Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate.

Chief Uduaghan made a statement on Saturday. He responded to the ongoing battle between his wife and the former governor of Akwa Ibom. He stated that he felt forced to give this comment. Every decent person with strong family values should be concerned about the serious underlying claims. These claims are being overshadowed by the needless stirring up of certain attitudes.
He requested the Senate, including Akpabio, to treat Natasha with respect and decency. He emphasized the love and devotion that he shared with her.

Chief Emmanuel said, “I had initially resolved to refrain from commenting on the ongoing dispute. This dispute is between my beloved wife, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, and the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
- “However, recent developments have compelled me to issue this statement. Certain sentiments are being stirred up unnecessarily. This distraction takes away from the serious underlying allegations. These allegations should concern every discerning individual with sound family values.
- Without prejudice to the ongoing legal proceedings, I wish to emphasise that my wife was duly elected by her people. This is due to the immense love, respect, and confidence they have in her. She is committed to delivering quality representation to her district and the Nation at large. She is a devoted wife, and the bond we share is deep and unwavering. She has always remained truthful, even in the face of adversity.
- “My wife has confided in me about her interactions with the Senate President, whom I considered a family friend. In response, I approached the matter with the utmost maturity and responsibility. It is my duty as a traditional leader, who has immense respect for constituted authority. I uphold core family values, which foster peace and harmony.
- “I personally met with the Senate President. I respectfully urged him to extend the courtesy and respect my wife deserves. I also mentioned honoring the friendship between us. We reached an understanding and agreed to resolve the issue amicably.
- “However, despite this agreement, my wife continues to express concerns about the harassment she has endured from the Senate President.
- I have unwavering faith in my wife’s loyalty. I am fully committed to our marriage. It is grounded in love, compassion, and mutual respect. I would never trade her for anything, as she is the greatest joy of my life.
- I urge the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. They should treat my beloved wife with the respect she truly deserves. The Senate President should also ensure she is treated with the dignity she deserves. The relevant authorities and the court should determine the underlying issues.

This follows after Senate President’s, Mrs. Unoma Godswill Akpabio petitioned the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for N250 billion in general damages. The petition is based on the fundamental rights and defamation cases by Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
These charges were refuted by Mrs. Akpabio, who stated that Natasha was “lying and creating content for her personal gains.”
IREPORT247NEW reports that Mrs Akpabio is making a request to the court. She is asking for a court declaration about the claims made by Natasha. These claims were stated on the floor of the Senate on February 20, 2025. She is also concerned about the statements given during an interview with Arise News TV. These actions, she believes, breached her fundamental rights.
She made the announcement that she would be taking legal action against the senator during a news conference. In accordance with Articles 4 and 5 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the basic rights lawsuit (Suit No. CV/814/25) was submitted in accordance with Section 34(1)(a) of the Constitution of 1999 (as modified).
Mrs. Akpabio also wants a permanent injunction. She aims to stop Natasha from making inciteful statements. These statements are scandalous and spiteful. They have hurt her and her children.
Mrs Akpabio contends that Natasha’s statements shown on national television have caused damage to the reputation of her family in a second action for defamation (Suit No. CV/816/25).
The charges have thrown her family into shame and opprobrium. She is asking for a declaration that all of the allegations were made without any proof. According to the lawsuit, Natasha must provide a formal written retraction. She also needs to give an unconditional apology. It must be published in the newspapers The Guardian and This Day.
