Senate President Godswill Akpabio has commended Abia State Governor Alex Otti for his developmental strides and for celebrating Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe’s 70th birthday. Akpabio praised Otti as a generous leader with a kind heart, whose goodwill has positively impacted the welfare of Ndi Abia.
Akpabio also hinted at offering Otti a grand celebration if he joins the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying, “I have seen the good work you are doing, but I cannot publicly commend you because you are in the Labour Party — you are still labouring. The day you join the APC, you will hear my full praise and see how I will celebrate you.”
This isn’t the first time Akpabio has made such an appeal. Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu has also urged Otti to join the APC, citing the party’s strength and the benefits of working together.
Kalu praised Otti’s performance and commitment to development, but emphasized that the APC is the party to beat in 2027.
Otti, however, seems focused on his current role, congratulating Abaribe on his birthday and describing him as a fearless and courageous leader. Otti said, “This celebration is not politically motivated. I am committed to honouring Abians who deserve recognition… We are here to celebrate a man of courage, selflessness, and truth.”
