In a celebration of rhythm, culture, and musical innovation, PF Music, an African jazz advocacy initiative, recently hosted the African Jazz Series Concert 2025.

The event, held at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos State, brought together top jazz musicians from across Africa, showcasing the continent’s rich jazz heritage.

According to the Managing Director of PF Music, Peter Fisher, also known as the Bassman, the event was revived to reboot the beauty of African jazz in its purest form. “Jazz is more than just music; it’s a story, a movement, and an expression of Africa’s rich cultural heritage,” Fisher said.

The concert honored legendary pioneers such as Fela Kuti, Hugh Masekela, Manu Dibango, Abdullah Ibrahim, and Miriam Makeba, while highlighting a new generation of jazz virtuosos.

The inaugural concert showcased two exceptional bands representing the evolving sound of African jazz: the GHJazz Collective (Ghana) and the AFRO4 (Nigeria and South Africa).

By bringing together talented musicians from across Africa, PF Music’s African Jazz Series Concert 2025 demonstrated the power of music to unite and celebrate the continent’s rich cultural diversity. As a platform for promoting African jazz, PF Music is committed to showcasing the best of African talent and preserving the legacy of African jazz.

The African Jazz Series Concert 2025 also provided a unique opportunity for music enthusiasts to experience the diverse sounds and styles of African jazz. From traditional Yoruba music to contemporary Afrobeat, the concert featured a wide range of genres and styles, showcasing the richness and diversity of African jazz.

In addition to the concert, PF Music also announced plans to establish a jazz academy in Lagos, which will provide training and mentorship opportunities for young jazz musicians.

The academy will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and will offer a comprehensive curriculum that covers the history, theory, and practice of jazz.

With its successful inaugural concert and plans for a jazz academy, PF Music is poised to become a leading platform for promoting African jazz and preserving the continent’s rich cultural heritage.
