The invasion of the Tse Ugema hamlet in the Ukum local government area of Benue State by bandits who were suspected of being herders resulted in the death of at least six farmers, according to current estimates.

The incident began when some cattle wandered onto farmlands and destroyed crops, including those that were stored in the barns, according to a local resident who did not want his identity to be published. This information was provided to our reporter journalist over the phone.

“Some youths in the area, upon seeing the cattle grazing on the crops and destroying barns, mobilized to chase the cattle out of the farms,” the source said. “The cattle were destroying the barns.”

Several of the other young people managed to flee into the nearby bushes, although their injuries were of varied degrees, and some of them are still missing.
