A fire that was blazing and had burned sections of a storey structure that housed the Ago Medical Centre in Okota, off of Ago Palace Way, has been effectively suppressed, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency. During the early hours of Saturday morning, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who serves as the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, made this information public in a statement.

In response to distress calls that were received on the agency’s 767/112 Emergency Toll-Free Lines at 18:29 hours on Friday, Oke-Osanyintolu mentioned that the agency activated the state’s emergency response plan and its response team from Oshodi.

According to Oke-Osanyintolu, the incident did not result in any fatalities and there were no injuries reported. In order to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings in the neighborhood, he mentioned that the LASEMA Response Team Fire Unit and other responders were working together to make sure that the fire was confined.

Oke-Osanyintolu,”Upon arrival at 18.50hrs, LASEMA’s Eagle Response Team discovered that sections of a storey building which housed a hospital were being gutted by fire at the aforementioned address.

“Preliminary investigations conducted by LASEMA’s Eagle Response Team revealed that the immediate cause of the inferno was a power surge which led to a spark when public electricity power supply was restored.

“The fire is still raging and responders are battling to put it off. Response and Recovery Operations are in progress.”
