Cody Almond 35-year old Hockey player has decided to hang up his skates and will thus not be looking for a new contract.
Cody Almond announced on his personal Instagram: “Although my heart and mind would like to continue playing hockey, it is time to let my body rest. I hang up my skates without regrets, grateful for all the unforgettable memories I will always cherish.”
Almond will remain in the hockey sphere, as he is the co-founder and the head of development of a new players agency.
The forward played junior hockey in Canada and a bit of NHL hockey for the Minnesota Wild before joining Geneve Servette in 2012. He stayed with the Grenats for almost seven seasons, before he joined Lausanne in 2019.
He played his last game in the 2023-24 season, as he did not obtain a new contract for this season.
Almond won two Spengler Cups with GSHC and played in two World Championships and one Olympics with the Swiss national team. He suited up in 190 AHL games, 25 NHL games and 465 National League games.
