The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the lives of Nigerian players by promoting a combination of sports and education. In a groundbreaking partnership, the NPFL has teamed up with the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences to provide educational opportunities for players.

NPFL chairman, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, emphasized the importance of education for young footballers, stating that “football careers can be short, and we want to equip them with skills and knowledge that will sustain them long after their playing days are over.”

Leading the Hungarian delegation to the meeting was Dr Zoltán Lakner who is the departmental head of Food Economics at the university.

The partnership aims to provide players with opportunities to learn modern courses such as AI, robotics engineering, and other fields that can prepare them for life after football. Scholarships will also be available for talented footballers.
