Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, has spoken out about the invasion of her office by ousted Speaker Obasa.

Fielding questions  from Journalists at a Lagos State High Court after the hearing, Meranda said, “Actually, this is just the beginning… and just like what happened in both parties address through their representatives, and I think we should allow the legal team to do their job.”

When asked about the incident, Meranda stated, “Well, I think he is still a member of the House, so he has every right to come, but the invasion and breaking into my office was a big one.”

Regarding the restoration of her security details, Meranda said, “Well, as you can see, I have my people here with me (referring to other lawmakers) and God is with me.” She noted that she normally has 12 policemen, 4 DSS officers, and 2 Anti-Bomb Squad members, but as of that morning, she only had 4 policemen.

On potential disciplinary actions against Obasa, Meranda said, “When we get to that bridge, we will cross it.” She also described Obasa’s actions as “theater and show of shame” presiding over plenary with four men and adjourning “sine die” without meeting the required quorum.
