Kwara Bans Unregistered IJMB Coaching Centers

Only nine schools were approved for the IJMB  programmes in the state, adding that the centers have conducive learning environments for students.

The state government has mandated all unapproved coaching centers to be closed down to sanitize the educational sector of the state.

“The state government has mandated all unapproved coaching centres to be closed down to sanitize the educational sector of the state.

The government of Kwara State issued an order to close a number of coaching centers that were not approved by the Interim Joint Matriculation Board and were located all throughout the state.

During a meeting that took place on Thursday at the Ministry in Ilorin with all of the approved IJMB centers, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Mary Arinde, voiced her worries on the proliferation of IJMB centers.

  • According to a statement released on Friday by the press secretary in the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Falade Gbenga. Dr Arinde said, “The state government has the best records on the IJMB programmes so far and would firmly maintain the quality and standard of education in the state.
  • “Only nine schools were approved for the IJMB  programmes in the state, adding that the centers have conducive learning environments for students.”
  • In his list of genuine approved institutions for the program, Dr Arinde included the following:
  • Kwara State University (KWASU)
  • Malete Kwara State College of Education, Oro.
  • Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.
  • Federal Polytechnic, Offa
  • De-wise College of Basic and Remedial Studies
  • Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin
  • Thomas Adewumi University Oko, Al-Hikmah University, and Ojaja University, both of which are located in Ilorin.

Dr Arinde also stated that, “The state government has mandated all unapproved coaching centres to be closed down to sanitize the educational sector of the state.”

Additional statements were made by Babatunde Afolayan, who is the Director of Continued Education in the Ministry. He stated that the Ministry would sanitize the system and defend the educational principles of the state. He also vowed to implement the directive quickly.

Professor Stephen Afolabi, who is in charge of the International Master of Business Administration (IJMB) program at KWASU, praised the state government for taking a stance against unlicensed coaching centers that operate in surroundings that are unsuitable for learning and are filthy.

He said, “As an approved study centre for the IJMB programme, we are grateful that illegal centres will be eradicated, and we shall cooperate with the state government to improve the quality of education in the State of Harmony.”
