Beard returned for a second spell with the Reds in 2021, having led them to two WSL titles during his first stint at the helm between 2012 and 2015
Liverpool have parted company with manager Matt Beard after losing six of their last eight games in the Women’s Super League.
Beard returned for a second spell with the Reds in 2021, having led them to two WSL titles during his first stint at the helm between 2012 and 2015.
Upon returning, Beard immediately led Liverpool to promotion back to the WSL, then established them in the top flight with finishes of seventh and fourth.
But they have failed to kick on this season with a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City on February 16 leaving them seventh.
In a club statement, Liverpool thanked Beard for his service and said Amber Whiteley will take over as interim manager while a permanent successor is sought.
