The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a warning to Nigerians about fake TikTok accounts impersonating the agency.
These scammers are using the EFCC’s logo to mislead and defraud unsuspecting individuals.
According to EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the commission does not operate a TikTok account. However, fraudsters organized a live session on the platform using the commission’s logo to generate traffic and defraud people.
The scammers used six fake accounts with misleading names, including:
– EFCC of Nigeria
– EFCC Lagos
– EFCC Delta
– EFCC of Benin
– EFCC of Jos
– EFCC Saga
The EFCC has clarified that it does not have an official TikTok account and has urged the public to ignore any profiles claiming to represent the commission on the platform.
