As the Muslim community prepares for the holy month of Ramadan, the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has stressed the importance of unity and integrity among Islamic scholars.

The President-General of JNI, Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, made this appeal at the annual pre-Ramadan meeting in Kaduna on Monday.

Abubakar emphasized that Muslims must unite under one umbrella, despite their differences in understanding and interpretation of Islam. He urged scholars to speak and work for Islam, promoting a positive and uplifting message that fosters unity and understanding within the Muslim.

Prof. Khalid Aliyu, the Secretary-General of JNI, highlighted the importance of responsible scholarship and adherence to proper guidelines and ethics.

He emphasized that Muslim scholars have a critical role to play in promoting unity and understanding, but this can only be achieved by avoiding personal opinions, sectarian propaganda, and promoting divisive ideologies.

JNI has established guidelines for Tafsir sessions, which emphasize the need for scholars to adhere to proper scholarly ethics and avoid sectarian propaganda.

The organization has also urged scholars to prioritize wisdom and humility in their teachings, avoiding public disputes and focusing on promoting a positive and uplifting message.

The meeting was attended by several first-class Emirs, Islamic scholars, and academics from across the country, demonstrating the commitment of Muslim leaders to promoting unity and integrity within the community.
