Healthcare Workers of General Hospital Kangiwa in Kebbi State are Threatened by Snakes, Damaged walls, and Collapsing Ceilings.

Civic Technology Platform Monitng, reports that the General Hospital Staff Quarters, in Kangiwa Arewa, Dandi LGA, Kebbi State, which were designed to provide housing for healthcare professionals, have been left in a state of complete and utter neglect.
The healthcare workers are fighting for more than just the life of their patients, they are fighting for the survival of their own lives, which are threatened by snakes, damaged walls, and collapsing ceilings.
Residents have reported that the deplorable living circumstances have resulted in the relocation of a significant number of medical personnel.
This has resulted in the town having a reduced number of healthcare providers available in the event of an emergency.
One of the residents, Mohammed said, “Imagine being a doctor, coming home after a long shift, and finding a snake in your room.
“Who would want to stay and work under these conditions?
“These doctors and nurses work so hard to save lives, yet they are forced to live in terrible conditions.
“Many of them have moved far away because the staff quarters are falling apart.
“When emergencies happen, patients have to wait longer because the doctors aren’t nearby.”
Staff members in the healthcare industry and residents alike are requesting that the government take action. Ilevbaoje Uadamen, the founder of Monitng, called attention to the critical nature of the situation.
“We cannot expect healthcare workers to perform at their best when they don’t even have a safe place to live.
“It is time for the authorities to take responsibility and prioritise the renovation of these quarters.
“A functional healthcare system starts with ensuring that those who provide care are themselves cared for,” they lamented.
