The Inspector-General of Police has ordered all Force commands to implement a comprehensive strategy to cut crime by 50%

Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police, has issued a directive to all commands of the Force, instructing them to put into action a comprehensive strategy with the goal of reducing crime rates by fifty percent in 2025.

This command was delivered by him on Monday, during the fifth edition of the Annual Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers, which took place in Abeokuta.

“Improving Nigeria’s Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing” is the theme of the event, according to the NAN, which reports on the program.

Egbetokun said, “The theme highlights the President’s plan to build a professionally competent, intelligence-driven police force capable of addressing emerging threats proactively.”

In the struggle against organized crime, he stated that significant results are being achieved through intensified operations and collaboration with the military and other security agencies.

Additionally, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, emphasized the necessity for the Federal Government to implement routine evaluations and verification procedures for police officers.

“A regular and comprehensive health check, including psychiatric assessments, must not be overlooked,” Ebie stated.
