
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has strongly denounced the recent violent attacks in the state, which have claimed 24 lives. The governor vowed to bring the perpetrators to book, and ensure the safety and security of all residents.
The first incident occurred in Gbelemotin, Ovia South-West Local Government Area. Where 22 people lost their lives in a clash between cocoa farmers and alleged produce thieves. The violence escalated on Friday morning, resulting in more killings.
In a separate incident, two residents of Okpekpe community, Etsako East Local Government Area, were killed by suspected herdsmen on Monday.
Okpebholo assured that his administration will not tolerate any form of violence or lawlessness. “We will work tirelessly to ensure that those responsible for these heinous acts are brought to justice,” he said.
The governor has ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to the affected areas. And provision of support to the affected communities. He urged residents to remain calm and go about their normal business, assuring that the situation is being brought under control.
