A suspect is currently in police custody for allegedly stabbing an Uber driver and stealing his vehicle in the Agege area of Lagos State. The incident occurred on Saturday at 7:34 pm, according to the Lagos State Police Command.
The victim, an Uber driver, reported the incident at the Isokoko Division, stating that the suspect had boarded his Toyota Camry at Nitel by Old Abeokuta Motor Road, Agege, destined for Marriott Hotel, GRA, Ikeja.
However, upon reaching Ile-Zik, the suspect allegedly brought out a sharp knife and stabbed the driver all over his body before stealing the vehicle.
A team of policemen later trailed the vehicle to Oshodi, where the suspect was intercepted and apprehended. The stolen vehicle was recovered and taken to the station.
The police spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that the victim had been taken to the hospital for treatment. Hundeyin added that investigation into the case is ongoing.
The incident highlights the growing concerns over the safety of ride-hailing services in Lagos and the need for increased security measures to protect drivers and passengers.
