The reinstated chairmen of the APC returned to the local government secretariat on Monday morning, following the directive issued by the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday via the party’s platform.
The reinstated chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) returned to their positions at the local government secretariat on Monday morning.

This was in response to the instruction that was administered to them on Sunday by the Osun State chapter of the APC on the party’s platform.
The chairman who were allegedly reinstated by the ruling handed down by the Court of Appeal on February 10 were given the instruction to resume their jobs in their respective local government secretariats.

Additionally, it advised them to ignore false information that is making the rounds on social media, which claims they should not return to their duties at the state’s 30 local government secretariats.
According to the party, anti-democratic groups were responsible for the development. Mr. Kola Olabisi, the APC’s Director of Media and Information, disclosed this in the statement released.
Part of the statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to fake news on social media, orchestrated by a supposed democratic state government, claiming that the leadership of the APC in Osun State has directed its elected local government chairmen and councillors not to resume in their various local government council areas tomorrow.
“We want to inform the authentic, Court of Appeal-reinstated local government council chairmen and councillors that no such information came from the esteemed leadership of our party.
“It is the handiwork of reactionary elements who believe they can achieve their inordinate political ambitions through the dissemination of fake stories to confuse our focused, elected council bosses and chiefs.
“We want to make it abundantly clear that it is imperative for the elected APC local government chairmen and councillors to resume at their respective local government council areas to continue serving the deprived people at the grassroots level of government.”
On February 20, the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) informed the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) in a letter signed by Alao Olabisi Kamoru that the party will not be participating in the local government elections that are set to take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
“In view of the foregoing, we hereby state that the All Progressives Congress and all its candidates, by this letter, inform the Commission that we withdraw from the Local Government Elections scheduled for 22nd February 2025, the same having become unnecessary, superfluous, and unlawful with this development.”

Governor Ademola Adeleke had earlier instructed freshly elected chairmen to defer resumption in order to avoid conflicts with those who are reportedly occupying the offices with the backing of the police.
Governor Adeleke said, “I urge you and your councilors to please stay away from the council secretariats to avoid any clash with those whom the police had aided to forcefully occupy the local government secretariats.
“An Osun State High Court had affirmed the vacancies in both the Chairman and Councilors positions in all of Osun State Local Governments before your election on the 22nd February 2025.
“We will, therefore, rely on the judiciary to ensure a peaceful removal of those illegally occupying the local government secretariats. Please be patient and always abide by the rule of law.”
