In the Ijedodo, Isheri-Osun neighborhood of Lagos state, a 23-year-old guy was arrested by the police for reportedly beating his girlfriend to death.
The state police command spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the situation to reporters, stating that the suspect committed the crime on Friday at approximately 8 p.m.
According to Hundeyin, a neighbor called the Isheri-Osun Police Divisional Station to report the occurrence.
“The neighbour said that he saw the suspect beating his girlfriend in his room for a reason yet to be determined.
“He said few minutes later, the suspect screamed for help and getting to his apartment, he met his girlfriend lying unconscious on the bed with visible marks of violence found on her body.
“The girl was immediately rushed to the hospital in Ijegun, where she was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.”
According to the spokesperson, investigators were sent right away to the hospital and the place of the incident, where they examined and took pictures of the corpse.
Hundeyin stated that the inquiry was ongoing and that the body had been taken to a Yaba morgue for autopsy while the suspect had been held for interrogation.
