A head-on collision occurred between the incoming tanker and the driver of the Toyota Hiace bus, resulting in the immediate deaths of 14 passengers

A horrific traffic accident that took place on the Lapai-Agaie-Bida Federal Highway resulted in the deaths of at least fourteen people, as stated by Kumar Tsukwam, who is the Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal traffic Safety Corps (FRSC).

According to a statement released by Tsukwam, the accident has been ascribed to excessive speeding and improper overtaking.

Both a Toyota Hiace bus traveling from Minna to Agaie and a DAF tanker traveling from Lagos to Kaduna were engaged in the accident that took place between Kusobogi and Nami around 10:59 am on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

The collision took place between their respective locations.

A head-on collision occurred between the incoming tanker and the driver of the Toyota Hiace bus, as stated in the report from the FRSC.

The driver was attempting to pass another vehicle at a high speed when the collision occurred.


“The impact was fatal, resulting in the immediate deaths of 14 passengers, including five females, one male child, and eight males.

“Six male passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the General Hospital in Lapai for emergency medical care.

“The injured were evacuated to the hospital while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the morgue.”
