Senator Peter Nwebonyi, the Senate Deputy Chief Whip, has publicly criticized Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for her refusal to accept a new seat assignment in the Senate. In an interview with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Nwebonyi expressed concerns over Akpoti-Uduaghan’s alleged disregard for Senate rules and regulations.

Nwebonyi’s comments come after a heated exchange between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the seat reallocation. The incident has sparked debate about the dynamics of power and gender in the Senate, with some arguing that Akpoti-Uduaghan was unfairly targeted.

According to Nwebonyi during the interview, “other senators have moved in that order. Two persons exited from their former position, and over ten senators adjusted.

What is so special about Senator Natasha that she cannot obey the rules of the Senate? She is not the only senator that was reallocated to a new seat. Before now, Senator Yayi of Ogun State was reallocated.

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah was reallocated, and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu was reallocated. Senator Wamakko was reallocated. What is wrong with Senator Natasha?

Speaking about the Senate, he emphasized that it’s a prestigious institution that demands adaptability. “Once you’re part of the Senate, you need to adjust and put aside your personal character, following the established rules and protocols.”

He specifically addressed Senator Natasha’s behavior, stating that her struggles stem from a lack of submission, disobedience, and a tendency to prioritize sensationalism. “If Senator Natasha believes she stands out for her intelligence, she’s mistaken – the Senate has even more brilliant minds. Similarly, if she thinks she’s uniquely outspoken, there are others who surpass her in that regard.”
