Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Dr. Marufu Alausa, has emphasized the crucial role of skills development in driving economic growth and social progress.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Technical Teachers and Instructors Training Workshop in the South-West Zone, Alausa noted that the demand for a skilled workforce is more pressing than ever, given the rapid technological advancements reshaping industries.
The workshop, organized by the Federal Ministry of Education and the World Bank, trained 300 participants from across the South-West states in various vocational skills.
Alausa stressed that technical and vocational skills equip individuals with practical knowledge, enabling them to excel in their fields and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.
The minister’s remarks were echoed by other stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu, who called for a shift in focus from academic certificates to practical skills.
