Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has alleged that the Senate leadership has denied her privileges as a lawmaker.
She made this claim during an interview on Brekete Family, a Human Rights Radio and Television programme in Abuja .
The controversy began when Akpoti-Uduaghan discovered that her seat had been reassigned during Thursday’s plenary session. She refused to use the new seat, citing Order 10, which protects members’ privileges.
This led to a heated exchange with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Akpoti-Uduaghan claimed that she has been facing challenges since her first clash with the Senate President. She alleged that she has been pulled out of international activities and has had to self-sponsor her attendance at events.
The incident has sparked reactions from various quarters, with some senators urging calm and others condemning Akpoti-Uduaghan’s behavior.
The South-South Women Congress has also slammed Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of disrespecting Senate rules and urging her to apologize.
