Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Ayodele Sonubi, has retired from active service after 33 years, receiving praise from dignitaries including Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and Governor Seyi Makinde.
The retirement ceremony was held at the state Police headquarters in Ibadan, where Egbetokun commended Sonubi as a “law enforcement strategist and dedicated professional.”
Makinde described Sonubi as a “thoroughbred professional with integrity” and thanked him for his dedicated service to the state.
Sonubi reflected on the challenges he faced during his career, acknowledging the impact on his personal and family life.
He expressed gratitude for ending his service on a positive note and assured his family of his “full attention in retirement” .
Dignitaries in attendance included the state Head of Service, Olubunmi Oni, and the Otun Balogun of Ibadan, High Chief Kolawole.
Sonubi’s retirement marks the end of an era in Oyo State’s law enforcement.
