Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has imposed a vehicular movement restriction from 5 am to 5 pm on Saturday, February 22, due to the local government election.
The restriction aims to prevent the importation of hoodlums into the state and ensure peaceful elections.
According to the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, only voters, accredited media, and civil society organizations will be allowed to move around during the restriction period.
This decision comes amidst tensions between the APC and PDP in the state, following the Court of Appeal’s judgment on the dismissal of APC local government chairmen and councillors.
The police have confirmed that six people were killed and several others injured in the ensuing violence.
