According to information posted on its website on Monday, Airtel Nigeria, the nation’s second-largest telecom provider, has changed its data pricing structure and implemented a price adjustment of up to 50%.
The price change, which impacts a number of data bundles, is consistent with industry worries about rising operating expenses.
In addition to data modifications, the 56 million+ subscriber operator raised voice call rates over the weekend.
The action highlights the larger movement among telecom providers for a rate review to mitigate the effects of inflation and foreign exchange volatility, even though the company has not yet released an official statement.
In the updated daily and weekly data plans, you can get N50 for 40MB for one day, N100 for 100MB for one day, N200 for 200MB for three days, N350 for 1GB for one day, N350 for 350MB for seven days, N500 for 750MB plus 1GB YouTube Night and 200MB YouTube Music/Spotify for seven days, N500 for 1GB plus 1GB YouTube Night and 50MB Socials for seven days, N500 for 2GB for two days, and N1500 for 5GB.
The biggest telecom company in Nigeria, MTN, has also modified its call and internet rates to comply with the NCC’s ruling.
Customers now pay extra for calls, SMS, and internet usage due to the updated price, which was put into effect a week ago.
