The Federal Ministry of Education has taken a significant step towards ensuring student welfare and safety by establishing a seven-member committee to address bullying in all Nigerian schools.

This move reinforces the Ministry’s commitment to providing a secure learning environment.

The committee’s primary responsibilities include reviewing reported cases of bullying and taking swift action to address them. This initiative complements the efforts of a 21-member team working on a National Policy on Anti-Bullying.

To facilitate confidential reporting of bullying incidents, the government has introduced a hotline (09012660044), email (antibullying@education.gov.ng), and WhatsApp (08052536133).

Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, emphasized the urgent need for effective interventions, citing the severe psychological impact of bullying on students. The Director, Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, reiterated the Ministry’s zero-tolerance stance on bullying, urging stakeholders to support the initiative.

This move aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes education as a driver of national development
