Members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All-Progressives Congress (APC) battled as reinstated council executives resumed their duties in Osun State’s Boripe Local Government Area on Monday, resulting in two reported shootings.

Governor Ademola Adeleke and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola were at odds over the reinstatement of fired APC officials by the Court of Appeal, which led to the crisis.

Early on Monday, APC executives returned to work, gloating about taking back control of the council and celebrating their reinstatement.

PDP members ambushed them as they were leaving the council grounds, resulting in shooting that wounded two individuals.

Amotekun Corps security officers eventually got on the site, but APC members allegedly refused to cooperate.

APC members occupied the secretariat in the Oke-Baale neighborhood of Osogbo, but they were repelled after some time by Muniru Raji, a special adviser on political matters and an advisor to Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Teslim Igbalaye, the secretary to the state government, later encouraged more PDP members to join the council, driving the APC out.

When members of the council clashed, there were gunshots at the council. The fight in the Osogbo local government area left one person hurt.

The PDP objected to the APC members’ decision to continue the council in Ife Central, which resulted in severe traffic jams on the Ibadan/Ikire expressway.

Both APC and PDP members were standing in front of the lock-and-key Obokun council, creating an uneasy calm.

In Irewole, APC members were prevented from returning to their positions by PDP members who were stationed at the council to prevent any invasion.

Timothy Owoeye, the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, led the APC council executives as they resumed their positions in Ilesa East.

Also, APC executives in Atakunmosa West were resuming their work under the leadership of former legislator Babatunde Komolafe.

IREPORT247NEW reports that Boripe Local Government Secretariat in Iragbiji, Osun State, saw the return of officials elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC in the October 15, 2022, local government elections in Osun State.

Party members who tried to seize control of the Olorunda local government secretariat in Igbona, Osogbo, were repelled, causing tension in the area.

NSCDC agents and Amotekun Corps members were present, attempting to calm down irate PDP members who had positioned themselves at the secretariat’s entrance.

However, no one was permitted entry because the gate was locked.

The secretariat entrance was heavily guarded by PDP members, including Commissioner for Rural Development Gani Olaoluwa.
