Using the Patience Umo Eno Antenatal Complex at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH), Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno eternalized his wife, calling it the ideal Valentine’s Day present for him and his family.

The governor stated at the complex’s commissioning at UUTH that the gesture had revealed Patience Eno’s wife’s strong belief in the importance of the family as a social unit, which had guided her in starting her pet project, the Golden Initiative For All (lGIFA).

He assured that his administration was working hard to build a complete mother and child hospital with doctors’ quarters and other facilities that will promote medical tourism, open a medical corridor with a medical village, and reposition the Specialist Hospital to the standard that will drive medical tourism into the state.

Despite being a federal institution, he pointed out that the majority of the beneficiaries are Akwa Ibom natives. As a result, he announced a N200 million commitment to sustain the hospital’s medical services and N10 million for the health insurance of the hospital’s needy patients.

Eno expressed gratitude to Prof. Emem-Abasi Bassey, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) and a former State Health Commissioner, for his revolutionary effort in the hospital and said, “Government will ensure continuous collaboration with the UUTH management and other medical stakeholders to actualise its development vision for the medical sector as encapsulated in the ARISE Agenda.”
